James 2:1-13
James is talking here about the sin of favouritism. This is a sin that everyone struggles with. James says we shouldn't show favouritism when we live under a God who is so Holy and awesome. There are only two levels - us and God. We can't judge and put some people above others when God is so high above us all.
The Bible teaches that if anything, it should be the opposite. We should treat those who are ignored by the world with the same respect and care as anyone else. This is what the scriptures mean by "love your neighbour". A good way to live your life is to love as if you will be judged immediately after your next action. So live a life of mercy, like the mercy you have been shown by God. If you truly live in the gospel then we should be so eager to show the same mercy to everyone we meet. We should love people that we would normally have nothing to do with.
